This position is for a Licensed Practical Nurse or Medical Assistant within a Family Practice Clinic, where the successful candidate will contribute to providing comprehensive health care.

Requirements

  • LPN: Graduate of an accredited LPN Program OR Wisconsin: Have completed the portion of the RN Program needed to obtain a certificate of completion in practical nursing OR Illinois: Have completed the designated curriculum of a Ladder Option Approved Designated RN Program.
  • LPN: Licensed as an LPN in the State of Practice.
  • LPN & MA: Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.
  • MA: Graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), or graduate of a medical assistant program in a post secondary school or college that has institutional accreditation by a regional accrediting commission or by a national accrediting organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education, or a graduate of an educational program accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), such as the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
  • MA: Required current CMA certification through the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) or RMA certification through the AMT (American Medical Technologists) or CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) through NHA (National Healthcareer Association) or RMA through AAH (American Allied Health) or NCMA Certification through the NCCT that have also completed the education requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in clinical setting preferred (for LPN).
  • Experience in a program with a clinical rotation preferred (for MA).

Responsibilities

  • Rooms patients, collects assessment data and prepares patient according to specific need.
  • Assists in examination, treatment and other clinic procedures.
  • Assists with laboratory procedures, screening tests and QI projects.
  • Answers telephone and either responds to inquiry or directs caller to appropriate personnel for triage.
  • Prepares and maintains patient charts.
  • Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices.
  • Orders and maintains supplies.
  • Collects patient data and documents in the medical record (LPN).
  • Administers injections and medications as ordered and directed (LPN).
  • Reviews physician's orders, lab requests, or follow-up needs with patient (LPN).
  • Documents according to standards of care (LPN).
  • Provides patient treatments as ordered (LPN).
  • Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to the provider or RN (LPN).
  • Perform the duties of a clinic LPN within alignment to LPN scope of practice (LPN).
  • Assist with clinic projects and assignments and nursing initiatives (LPN).
  • May provide feedback for evaluation or participate in peer review (LPN).
  • Assists with preparation of staff for surveys (LPN).
  • Monitors compliance with clinic initiatives as assigned (LPN).
  • Administers specified medications and nursing interventions as allowed by policy and procedure, licensure, and State Practice Act (LPN).
  • Reinforces patient teaching provided by Provider and RN (LPN).
  • Provides basic healthcare instruction to family and patient (LPN).
  • Performs EKG's and simple lab tests as needed (LPN).
  • Performs venipuncture to collect blood specimens (LPN).
  • Participates in QA & I (LPN).
  • Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduler (MA).
  • Conducts reminder calls to all patients (MA).
  • Greet and directs patients, salespeople, and visitors (MA).
  • Registers patients by verifying that patient's record is up to date and accurate (MA).
  • Makes appropriate changes in computer system and on patient's chart (MA).
  • Collects payment from patients and issues receipt (MA).
