About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or designated supervisor is responsible for nursing care (within their scope of practice) in an assigned area.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Must possess a current, valid LPN license in state of practice or temporary LPN license in state of practice.
• BLS required.
• PEARS preferred, completion of CPI preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the medication administration system to provide patients with their medication under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Provides patients with information on their medication.
• Communicates and updates the RN and other providers related to perceived reactions or changes to patient's condition.
• Accurately records medications provided to the patient and documents vital signs and procedures completed as well as the equipment utilized.
• Monitors the patients for safety in the department.
• Attends department meetings and educational sessions; assists in training new department staff.
• Participates in activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
