Requirements

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Current LPN license in state of NC

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN
  • Establishes and maintains efficient methods of ensuring the medical necessity and appropriateness of all hospital admissions while obtaining precertification's.
  • Performs admission and concurrent precerts for patients to ensure that the claim has an authorization number to prevent denials.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with payors, staff, etc.
  • Reviews charts for clinical information to obtain precertification.
  • Maintains proper telephone etiquette to referral sources.
  • Manage patients along with RN case manger supervision.
  • Evaluate patient status is correct per medical necessity for appropriate reimbursement.
  • Review and comply with LifePoint Code of Conduct and all relevant Company and Division policies and procedures.
