About The Position

Griffin Memorial Hospital (GMH) Annex is recruiting for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to work in our newly opened forensic unit.

Requirements

  • LPN III: Possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a licensed practical nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing plus two years of practical nursing experience; or Licensed Practical Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) plus two years of practical nursing experience.
  • LPN II: Possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a licensed practical nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing and one year of practical nursing experience; or Licensed Practical Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) plus one year of practical nursing experience.
  • LPN I: Possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a licensed practical nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing; or Licensed Practical Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Possesses a strong commitment to patient well-being and safety and believes that recovery is possible!
  • Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 50 pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of 25 pounds.
  • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical direct and indirect nursing care in a hospital under the supervision or direction of a registered nurses or licensed physician.
  • Offering health care to patients, experiencing severe emotional disorder(s)/psychiatric illness or substance abuse.
  • Performing crisis intervention and works collaboratively with Psychiatrists, Therapists, and other Nurses.
  • Preparing medication and distributing on the unit.
