About The Position

As part of our team, you will contribute to a wide range of services aimed at fostering hope, healing, and empowerment within the communities we serve. We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support the medical needs of children and adolescents residing in our therapeutic home for psychiatric care. This role is ideal for a nurse who values relationship-centered care, structure, and making a meaningful difference during critical evening hours when residents are transitioning from daily programming to rest and stabilization. The LPN will be primarily responsible for safe medication administration, documentation, and basic nursing care, including treatment of minor injuries, while collaborating closely with behavioral health staff to ensure a safe, supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing in the State of Michigan.
  • Knowledge of medication administration standards and documentation practices.
  • Ability to assess and treat minor injuries and provide basic wound care.
  • Strong observational, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently during evening hours while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pediatric, behavioral health, residential, or long-term care settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications accurately and in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
  • Monitor residents for medication effectiveness, side effects, and behavioral or physical changes; report concerns promptly.
  • Complete timely, accurate documentation in the medical record, including medication administration records (MARs).
  • Provide basic nursing care, including assessment and treatment of minor wounds, first aid needs, and routine health concerns.
  • Maintain medication storage, inventory, and controlled substance documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members regarding resident health status and care needs.
  • Support a calm, structured evening routine that promotes safety, dignity, and emotional stability for residents.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies at all times.
  • Participate in shift handoffs and communicate relevant medical updates to oncoming staff.
