About The Position

SCRI Oncology Partners, located in Nashville, Tenn., is a dedicated cancer treatment center led by globally recognized oncologists with disease expertise in cancer care and clinical research. This center offers patients state-of-the art personalized cancer care and opportunities to participate in clinical trials with innovative treatments. The practice conducts clinical trials through their affiliation with Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a global leader in oncology research that has been offering and managing clinical trials in the community for over 30 years. Since its inception, SCRI has contributed to pivotal research that has helped advance the majority of new cancer therapies approved by the FDA today. SCOPE: Under general supervision, provides general nursing care for patients following established standards and practices. Promotes efficient patient flow, assists with patient care and supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience as a practical nurse.
  • Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in practicing state.
  • Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides general nursing care to oncology patients in accordance with established nursing standards, clinic policies, and the state Nurse Practice Act.
  • Obtains and documents patient data prior to each visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, pain assessment, and medication reconciliation.
  • Initiates peripheral IV access, maintains IV lines, and administers IV fluids and non‑chemotherapy IV medications as permitted by scope of practice.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections (e.g., supportive medications, growth factors) per provider order.
  • Obtains blood specimens via peripheral venipuncture following OSHA guidelines and universal precautions.
  • Performs EKGs, pulse oximetry, and other point‑of‑care tests as ordered.
  • Observes, records, and reports patient condition, responses, and adverse reactions to medications or treatments to the RN and/or provider promptly.
  • Assists providers and RNs with examinations, procedures, and patient care activities as needed.
  • Communicates effectively with RNs, providers, pharmacists, and clinic staff to ensure coordinated, safe patient care.
  • Escalates patient concerns, abnormal findings, or changes in condition according to clinic protocol.
  • Maintains exam rooms and treatment areas, ensuring appropriate supplies, equipment readiness, and infection control standards.
  • Assists with inventory management, stocking supplies, and monitoring par levels.
  • Properly handles and disposes of medical waste, including emptying chemotherapy and biohazard containers in accordance with safety policies.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, infection prevention, and safety standards at all times.
  • Accurately documents all patient care activities in the electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely manner.
  • Maintains patient records, charts, and related clinical documentation per regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Adheres to clinic policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA compliance.
