About The Position

Mayo Family Clinic Southeast provides comprehensive Primary Care services, including Family Medicine and Community Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine (CPAM). The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) collaborates closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, registered nurses, allied health professionals, and learners while building meaningful, long-term relationships with patients and families. In this role, LPNs support the care of patients from birth through death, in a fast-paced outpatient clinic environment. LPNs deliver care in-person, via phone or video as well as web-based interactions. Responsibilities Provides direct patient care within scope of practice for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients Conducts focused assessments and reinforcement of patient education Administers medications, immunizations, and treatments such as injections, ear lavages, nebulizer treatments, wound care, catheter care, and suture/staple removal Supports population needs for preventive care services, chronic disease management, and quality improvement initiatives Assists with in-clinic procedures. Independently manages a nurse visit calendar and clinic workflows to support timely, coordinated care Demonstrates strong communication skills and may assist with mentoring, instruction, committees, or quality improvement projects as assigned Licensed Practical Nurses at Mayo Family Clinic Southeast contribute to a collaborative, team-based practice and build meaningful, long-term relationships with patients and families.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of practical nursing or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program (e.g., some states allow RN students to take the LPN board exam after completing one to two years in the RN program).
  • If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
  • Ability to work daytime hours, flexibility may be required to meet staffing needs.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
  • Current LPN license by applicable state requirements.
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Nice To Haves

  • One year LPN experience within the last five years preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing preferred.
