About The Position

Lantern Government Solutions is seeking committed and compassionate PRN Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, OH . This role provides hands-on nursing care under the supervision of Registered Nurses and physicians in a structured long-term care environment. Job Summary The LPN is responsible for supporting physicians and RNs in delivering direct patient care. This includes monitoring vitals, administering medication, documenting clinical updates, and educating residents and families. You'll work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic, respectful, and efficient care for each resident.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Current, unrestricted LPN license issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing (or compact).
  • Valid CPR certification (AHA, ARC, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of LPN nursing procedures, pharmacology, and emergency care.
  • Ability to operate medical equipment and computer systems.
  • Skilled in recognizing patient needs and taking prompt action.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
  • Physically capable of assisting patients with mobility and treatment procedures.
  • Required to work 32 hours per month to maintain PRN status.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care within LPN scope under RN or physician supervision.
  • Administer medications, injections, and treatments accurately and timely.
  • Monitor and document patient vital signs, conditions, and reactions.
  • Assist with exams, lab tests, diagnostic procedures, and emergency response.
  • Educate residents and families on medication, nutrition, and wellness practices.
  • Maintain clean and organized clinical environments, including exam and medication areas.
  • Ensure medication accountability and compliance with documentation standards.
  • Support ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) such as grooming, bathing, and feeding.
  • Collaborate across teams to resolve patient care issues.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and follow facility protocols.
  • Participate in stocking, ordering, and maintaining medical supplies.
