Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our General Medicine /Med Surg Floor. This is a Full Time, third shift position in Suffolk, VA. Sign on Bonus up to $8,000 available for qualified candidates! Hours: 7P to 7A with rotating weekend schedule. About the unit: The Medical-Surgical Unit at Sentara Obici Hospital is a great place to learn and grow, supported by a longstanding leadership team and strong preceptors dedicated to mentoring new nurses. With a 21-bed capacity, an RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5 or 6, and PCTs assisting with an average of 10 or 11 patients, the unit offers a collaborative, supportive environment ideal for both new graduates and experienced nurses seeking to enhance their skillset. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) functions under the supervision of an RN or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) in the clinical setting, within the scope of practice dictated by the State Boards of Nursing. The LPN demonstrates professional and clinical knowledge relative to designated clinical practice setting in the delivery of direct patient care, adhering to the level of verified competency dictated by the site specific program. The LPN works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support and communicate effectively with other licensed independent practitioners (Physicians, NP, PA) in collaboration while providing care and treatment for patients, clinical support and teaching for patient and family members, and adheres to the legal and ethical standards of nursing practice. LPN manages responsibilities of workload with accuracy, provides excellence in customer service, performs testing, medication administration and the implementation of nursing interventions and care plans to support a holistic approach to patient care. The LPN serves as patient advocate in the prevention of illness or disease.

Requirements

  • Trade School Graduate of a Licensed Practical Nursing Program (Required)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of practice
  • BLS within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Acute care nursing experience preferred
  • Background in Stroke or Telemetry preferred
