Dual Diagnosis- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
About The Position
Silver Lake Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire experienced full time, part time, per diem LPNs, day, and night shifts available, with behavioral health experience to provide inpatient treatment for adults who experience acute mental health symptoms and substance use. Our per diem LPNs work (4) 12 hour shifts per month, including a weekend. POSITION SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN), the Dual Diagnosis (DD) LPN is responsible for overseeing the medical management of patients. The DD LPN provides direct and supervised nursing care to patients, assists in facilitating group meetings, and helps with daily operations of the unit. Working under the RN, the DD LPN will monitor and provide medication administration and clinical documentation as ordered by the Medical Doctor (MD). Conduct patient observation rounds as needed and as ordered by MD and reports significant unit problems to the RN. Maintains safe and healthy working environment and uses safe work methods and procedures in accordance with company clinical standards. Communicates effectively with charge nurse and other members of the health care team regarding patient care and/or changes in condition. Responds appropriately in a crisis situation. The position involves direct patient care for a population of patients between the ages of 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise is required to serve this population.
Requirements
- Current NJ state LPN license graduated from an accredited program of Practical Nursing
- At least (1) year prior psychiatric/behavioral health experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) from American Red Cross or American Heart Association within two months of hire
