Cleveland Clinic’s G90 Urology Medical/Surgical Unit is dedicated to the care of post-operative urology and overflow surgical patients and focuses on pain control, return of bowel and bladder function, DVT prevention and ambulation. Patients in this unit range in age from young adult to geriatric, however, the most common patient population is approximately 65 years old. Some of the primary procedures performed on this unit include partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, radical prostatectomy, urolithiasis, and cystectomy with continent/incontinent urinary diversion. A caregiver in this position works days, 7:00am – 7:30pm.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program
• Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Nice To Haves

• One year of patient care experience

Responsibilities

• Collect, document and report patient data and observations.
• Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.
• Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.
• Perform routine laboratory tests.
• Educate patients and family members.
