Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Med Surg PRN Schedule : 12 hours shifts Job Location Type : In Person Your experience matters Sovah Health - Martinsville, VA is a 220-bed acute-care hospital providing over 22 medical specialties. A candidate for this position is expected to be proficient in caring for patients in an Acute Care hospital setting. Staffing Ratios are at a 1:6. Meditech experience is preferred. The selected candidate is expected to work a minimum of 36 hours a week, to include every other weekend.

Requirements

• Graduate of a practical school of nursing
• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing or a Compact State.
• AHA BLS certification required.
• As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• The selected candidate is expected to work a minimum of 36 hours a week, to include every other weekend.

Nice To Haves

• Meditech experience is preferred.
• Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
• May administer medication.
• Documents patient care given.
• Coordinates and incorporates the patient and family into the plan of care and delivery of care interventions, taking into consideration psychosocial/spiritual/cultural concerns.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
