About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Duke Primary Care will provide direct nursing care to patients under the supervision of registered nurses or physicians. This role is essential in delivering compassionate care and supporting the overall mission of advancing health together. The LPN will work in a collaborative environment, assisting in various medical procedures and ensuring the comfort and safety of patients.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse program is required.
• Current State of North Carolina LPN licensure or multistate Compact LPN licensure is required.
• BLS Certification is required.
• Knowledge of the scope of licensed practical nursing and ability to delegate to nursing support staff.
• Considerable knowledge of patient care and special procedures applicable to practical nursing.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not required.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

• Provide and document direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
• Assist other health care personnel in the delivery of patient care.
• Assist physicians and other nursing personnel in the performance of various diagnostic procedures.
• Evaluate nursing care with emphasis on nursing procedures and patient responses.
• Assist in the development and implementation of general policies and procedures for patient comfort and safety.
• Participate in maintaining the environment of care including equipment and other material resources.
• Identify clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assist in performance improvement activities.
• Assist with control of material resources and maintenance; report any equipment malfunctions to charge nurse.
• Participate in in-service education programs and other conferences within the service.
• Assist in the training of new employees.
