About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Wellstar North Douglas OB/GYN provides essential patient care under the direction of physicians and nursing supervisors. This role involves preparing patients for examinations, assisting during treatments, coordinating tests, and ensuring comprehensive follow-up care. The LPN is responsible for maintaining accurate medical records and educating patients and their families. The position requires a commitment to uphold nursing standards and deliver individualized care across diverse patient populations, including neonates to geriatrics.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a practical or vocational nursing program.
  • Current/active license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association prior to hire date.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written English.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use technology in clinical care.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous healthcare experience in an ambulatory or outpatient setting.
  • Experience in a hospital-based environment may be considered as a substitute.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for exams and assist during treatments.
  • Coordinate tests and follow-up care for patients.
  • Record treatment details in medical records accurately.
  • Educate patients and their families about care procedures and health promotion.
  • Demonstrate competency in serving patients of all ages.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary communication and documentation of patient care.
  • Complete ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education requirements.
  • Serve as a preceptor or mentor for other nursing staff and students.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and participate in nursing research.
  • Provide direct patient care as directed by the provider.
  • Plan for patient care across the continuum via pre-visit planning processes.
