About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The position involves demonstrating knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting, ensuring the health, comfort, and safety of residents, and contributing to the assessment of residents. The LPN administers medications or treatments as ordered, provides technical support to healthcare professionals, and documents resident interactions and outcomes related to care. The role requires effective communication and the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary care team.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board.
• Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span.
• Completion of required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
• Experience of a minimum of 400 hours as LPN at another facility.
• If position requires IV therapy/management skills, completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting.
• Ensures the health, comfort, and safety of residents.
• Contributes to the assessment of residents and administers medications or treatments as ordered.
• Documents resident interactions and outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
• Counsels residents, family members, and/or resident advocates on prevention and treatment plans.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Benefits

• Additional weekend incentive of $1.25/hour.
• Additional shift incentive of $1.25/hour for any hours worked from 6pm-6am.
