Licensed Practical Nurse – Licensed Vocational Nurse Position Summary As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department. Essential Functions Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN. Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care; may administer medication. Documents patient care provided. Assists RN with development of plan of care. Assists patients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient status and responses to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and family. Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned. Additional Information Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees. Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.
