Under general supervision, independently performs a variety of skilled practical nursing functions for physically ill, disabled, or geriatric residents in an assigned nursing unit and shift. Carries out assigned nursing policies and procedures. Administers medication, injections, and treatments. Observes, records, and reports to physicians, registered nurses, or the supervisory nurse the symptoms, reactions, and changes in residents conditions. Provides for the emotional, physical comfort and security of residents. Assists in maintaining working and living areas and supplies in good order. Assists in providing guidance to nursing assistants relative to nursing techniques. Performs selected nursing functions in situations which do not require the specialized knowledge and skill of a registered nurse. Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated .above The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs is a state agency designed to empower veterans and their families to thrive.
