About The Position

Under general supervision, independently performs a variety of skilled practical nursing functions for physically ill, disabled, or geriatric residents in an assigned nursing unit and shift. Observes, records, and reports to physicians, registered nurses, or the supervisory nurse the symptoms, reactions, and changes in residents conditions. Provides for the emotional, physical comfort and security of residents. Assists in maintaining working and living areas and supplies in good order. Assists in providing guidance to nursing assistants relative to nursing techniques. Performs selected nursing functions in situations which do not require the specialized knowledge and skill of a registered nurse. Carries out assigned nursing policies and procedures. Administers medication, injections, and treatments. Takes and records temperatures, pulses, respirations, oxygen saturation, and blood pressures. Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Requirements

  • Requires Illinois license as a practical nurse.
  • Requires one (1) year of practical nursing experience.
  • Requires ability to pass a background check.
  • Requires ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
  • Requires ability acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d)). Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Overtime is a condition or employment, and you may be required to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime.
