You will help individualize patient care, supporting patients as they adapt to their disease process and work toward the highest level of wellness. Responsibilities include performing routine nursing procedures and promoting your professional growth through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited practical nursing school program (LPN)
  • Equivalent of three (3) years of LPN nursing experience
  • At least one (1) year full time LPN nursing experience in an office setting
  • Experience with EMR software (MEDENT)
  • Experience working in windows and MS Office software
  • NYS Practical Nursing License
  • BLS Certification

Responsibilities

  • Initiate’s assessment of patient by collection of admission data to unit/clinic.
  • Identifies and records patients’ physiological data
  • Provides skilled and safe nursing care to assigned patients
  • Reports complex problems or any patient status change to the Physician, Nurse Practitioner or APP
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the medical plan of care and ensures that prescriber’s orders are implemented promptly and correctly
  • Arrange for patient testing, referrals, and/or hospital admission as appropriate.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked appropriately and ready for next patient; ensure equipment is clean/sterile and in working order.
  • Delegate tasks to other caregivers as license permits.
  • Documents response to nursing interventions in the patient record
  • Ensures that patient safety is a priority goal in the delivery of healthcare
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment for patients, families, and staff
  • Provides health education/teaching for patients and their designated significant others
  • Adheres to the RPCI Oncology, PC standard for Employee Conduct
  • Protects patient’s privacy, confidentiality, and their rights as health care consumers. Demonstrates an understanding of and is compliant with HIPAA regulations. Can define own level of access for minimum necessary requirements
  • Performs routine nursing care procedures, including intramuscular injections and the application of topical medications administered primarily for local (non-systemic) effects.
  • Assists physician, nurse practitioner or APP with in-office procedures, including biopsies, myringotomy tube placement, electric cautery, and/or any other procedure deemed medically necessary and appropriate for treatment in an outpatient office setting.
  • Provides comfort measures to patients including physical and psychosocial support.
  • Performs routine point of care testing according to organization policy and procedure.
  • Ensures that all activities and therapeutic measures prescribed by medical and nursing plans of care are completed and documented, reporting any deviations to responsible Registered Nurse or other licensed independent provider.
  • Calls patient with test results and medical recommendations as set forth by the provider.
  • Adheres to RPCI Autoclave Policy and always ensures proper safety protocols while handling the Autoclave before and after sterilization of equipment.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked appropriately and ready for next patient
  • Ensure equipment is clean/sterile and in working order
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment for patients, families, and staff
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requeste
