About The Position

We are hiring in Cohoes NY! Join us this summer at Camp Colonie for an exciting opportunity as a temporary Licensed Practical Nurse! What You'll Do As a Licensed Practical Nurse for the camp you will assist with providing direction and oversight for the medical component of the individuals served consistent with state regulation. You will help coordinate and/or deliver all nursing care procedures and related health care activities for assigned program. Applicants must be available June 29- August 14 Camp Colonie is a unique, outdoor summer school and recreational program for for children and young adults 5-21 years of age. The camp provides a supportive and supervised program for individuals with physical, developmental, or emotional disabilities as well as typically developing children and young adults. Requirements

  • License Practical Nurse with current NYS LPN license.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain proper documentation for administering medication, treatment and assessment, and provide required reports as needed.
  • Maintain ongoing, cooperative communication and collaboration with clients.
  • Implement quality assurance and oversight of medication administering and nursing activities.
  • Maintain ample medical and first aid supplies, adequate medications which are accurately labeled and securely store, and a safe and orderly medication area.
  • Triage when necessary and, as needed, respond with emergency medical care until appropriate EMS personnel arrive. Prepare incident reports and inform all appropriate parties as required.
  • Obtain needed medical records and treatment as assigned.
  • Help train and supervise staff in relation to health safety and personal care to be provided to individuals.
  • Participate in staff meetings as necessary and act as a nurse consultant when requested.
  • Ensure and maintain the cleanliness and safety of program areas and follow safety and infection control policies at all times.
  • Maintain current state nursing license and required program certifications.
  • Provide on-call emergency coverage as required.
