About The Position

The Ambulatory Float Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works in a variety of dynamic specialty clinics and primary care including, but not limited to, the following locations: Baldwin, Gonda, Mayo Clinic, NE Clinic, NW Clinic, SE Clinic, and Kasson. Ambulatory floats provide direct patient care to support the unique needs of the clinical practice. The LPN role in the float practice consists of assisting with patient visits by providing support in a variety of ways including assisting with procedures, rooming patients, administering immunizations, among other skills related to direct patient care. The Ambulatory Float Pool supports 16 different LPN practices serving patients from pediatrics through adulthood. An individual LPN within the Ambulatory Float Pool will train and work in six to ten different practices, specialties, or locations based on FTE and practice mix. Hours are Monday through Friday, with varied start times from 7-8 am. The majority of the schedule is 7:45-4:45 based on unit need.

Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification.
  • Ability to work in multiple practices and specialties.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in patient care and support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in various specialty clinics and primary care settings.
  • Assist with patient visits by supporting procedures and rooming patients.
  • Administer immunizations and perform other skills related to direct patient care.
  • Collect data through observation and communicate information to assist the RN and/or provider in patient assessment and care planning.
  • Participate as a member of the health care team and accept delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor and provider.
  • Deliver care in accordance with the patient care plan, policies, and procedures of the organization.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and mentor/instruct others.
  • Participate on committees or projects, including quality improvement projects.
