About The Position
The Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant will carry out treatment plans designed by a licensed physical therapist, which includes therapy techniques, exercises, and modalities such as heat, ice packs, and ultrasound. The role involves performing screens on new admissions and making observations on the unit for the physical therapy caseload. The assistant will communicate progress towards set goals and patient responses to treatment to the physical therapist regularly and document this in the patient Electronic Health Record (EHR). Additionally, the assistant will review patient charts for condition status and changes, monitor and keep logs for the use of adaptive equipment, and maintain the adaptive equipment utilized for patient treatment. Encouraging patients to actively participate in therapy and providing positive reinforcement is also a key responsibility. The assistant will maintain detailed patient treatment notes in the EHR, adhere to Federal, State, and Facility guidelines, assist in caseload management as instructed by the physical therapist, and provide training for new employees on the use of mechanical lifts and gait belts. The role also includes providing annual CNA Lift Training when instructed and administering class assessments and competency check-offs.
