About The Position

Rochester Optical Vision Care Center is a prescription eyeglass retailer established in Rochester, New York, in 1932. In addition to serving retail clients, we have a 70-year history as a prescription eyeglass supplier to the eye care industry, with our very own Rochester-made products! In addition to our years of dedication to eye care professionals nationwide, Rochester Optical is proud to have served our country for decades by supplying the military with specialized tactical eyewear. Rochester Optical is recruiting for an experienced part-time optician. Position Summary: The Licensed Optician will be responsible for successfully performing customer service, sales, and operational tasks and positively contributing to a professional optometry office that delivers excellent patient and customer care. The position will work a 5-day work week with no nights and occasional Saturdays until 1:00 p.m.

Requirements

High School diploma or its equivalent
New York State License in ophthalmic dispensing
Three or more years experience
Knowledge of current optical theory and practices
Exceptional retail sales and service skills, including the ability to build a client following
Excellent organization, time-management, solution-finding, communication, and interpersonal skills
Comfortable using a computer and learning new software
Ability to project a professional image

Nice To Haves

optical retail environment experience preferred

Responsibilities

Deliver exceptional service throughout the customers’ shopping and purchasing experience
Ensure accuracy in taking and recording measurements and adjusting and fitting eyewear
Expertly guide customers in selecting frames and lenses that are best suited for their personal style, lifestyle, prescription, and price needs
Ensure finished eyewear meets optical standards and customer requirements
Maintain presentation standards both on the sales floor and in the back office
Process orders in Point of Sale (POS) Software and generate reports
Stay current on product knowledge and fashion trends to enhance sales and service
