About The Position

The Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) is a healthcare professional who manages the day-to-day operations of a nursing home facility. The LNHA is responsible for ensuring that patients/residents receive high-quality care while also adhering to state and federal regulations. This involves a wide range of duties, including financial management, staff supervision, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for patients/residents. Personnel Management: Responsible for hiring, orientation, training, and retaining appropriate number of qualified staff to carry out facility programs and healthcare services. Ensure employee performance meets or exceeds expectations and periodic performance appraisals are conducted on a timely basis. Responsible for building and maintaining a collaborative and positive work environment across all departments. Work timely and directly with the home office HR Department on all employee relations, performance improvement and Union related issues to follow policies and procedures. Ensure all HR policies and programs are implemented and followed in facility. Ensure the development and implementation of employee health and safety programs to provide safe work environment. Financial Management: Prepare the annual budget for the facility. Monitor the monthly financial performance of the facility in relation to budget and make corrective financial changes at facility as needed. Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, and all medical billing activities. Manage all provider agreements and reimbursements. Manage all labor, overtime and other staffing expenditures. Marketing/Patient/Resident Census: Management of patient/resident census, admissions, assessments, care planning and discharge process ensuring all patients/residents receive appropriate care and support. Responsible for marketing SNF Services to hospitals, physicians and other healthcare organizations in the community. Patient/Resident Quality Care: Ensure the quality and appropriateness of resident/patient care meets or exceeds company and regulatory standards. Ensure that nursing services are planned, implemented and evaluated to maximize patient/resident quality of life and quality of care. Ensure that social services programs are planned, implemented and evaluated to meet the patient/resident psychological and social needs and preferences to maximize patient/resident quality of life and quality of care. Ensure that culinary service programs are planned, implemented and evaluated to meet the patient/resident nutritional needs to maximize patient/resident quality of life and quality of care. Ensure that medical services are planned, implemented and evaluated to meet the patient/resident medical care needs and preferences to maximize patient/resident quality of life and quality of care. Ensure that therapeutic recreation/activities are planned, implemented and evaluated to meet the needs and interests of patient/resident to maximize patient/resident quality of life and quality of care. Ensure that rehabilitation programs are planned, implemented and evaluated to maximize patient/resident optimal level of functioning. Facility Operations: Supervises the purchase of supplies and equipment and maintains appropriate inventories. Supervises the physical operation of the nursing home including the direction of maintenance and repairs. Acts as liaison between patients/residents. Ensure facility is a safe, clean, comfortable, and appealing environment for residents, patients, visitors and staff in accordance with company guidelines. Complete required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations. Manage all aspects of state, federal and local standards and regulations (for example, ADA, OSHA, CMA, etc.). Compliance: Act as main facility representative during state/federal surveys. Assign appropriate staff to work with survey personnel, conducting daily meetings on survey results. Work with the survey team to provide information that may remove or lower the scope/severity of any deficiency. Develop plan of correction for any survey deficiency to ensure that there is no reoccurrence. Provide updates to the leadership team on survey findings, correction plans, monitoring guidelines and any follow-up survey results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in healthcare administration, business administration or similar degree.
  • Licensed Nursing Home Administration in the State this position is held in.
  • 2 or more years’ experience in supervisory positions in a nursing facility and/or hospital clinical setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of State and Federal regulations, the survey process, survey tag/deficiencies, quality measures and development and implementation of plan of correction actions.
  • Knowledgeable of reimbursement regulations and nursing practices and procedures, and the laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to nursing facility administration.
