About The Position

NMC is currently recruiting a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) in the Progressive Care Unit, day shift. The position is full-time (72 hours bi-weekly), generally 7a-7:30p & every other weekend. IND123 The LNA plans and implements assigned patient care in collaboration with the nursing staff on the unit. The LNA provides direct patient care for patients of all age groups under a wide variety of circumstances, including patient sitting/care companion and documents patient information. The LNA will also provide support on the assigned unit that may include reception and clerical functions while interacting professionally with staff to facilitate a healing environment for staff, patients, families and visitors. After training the LNA will perform EKG's and phlebotomy procedures as necessary.

Requirements

  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent with a current licensure as a Licensed Nursing Assistant in the State of Vermont.
  • Experience: Experience as a LNA in a hospital setting preferred. Computer experience required.
  • Certifications: BLS required
  • Other: Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Communicates clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing. Has the ability to organize and prioritize multiple competing demands. Has an approachable, friendly demeanor.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy and ECG experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages self and resources effectively.
  • Communicates with patients, team members, and management in an accurate and timely manner evidenced by:
  • Performs basic care to patients under the guidance of the nursing staff:
  • Demonstrates the unit specific skills requisite for unit/patient population served
  • See unit specific competencies
  • Performs clerical duties as needed to support staff and patients
  • Checks and maintains equipment, checks, stocks and orders supplies, and manages outdates
  • Provides clerical support to staff, providers and patients as required:
  • Utilizes electronic and paper systems to provide efficient and quality service to the stakeholders
  • Maintains completeness of the EMR for the unit specific needs
  • Completes safety companion training and serves in this capacity as needed while also assisting with restraint application and care as outlined in NMC's Policy and Protocol, and maintain seizure precautions.
  • Responds to codes appropriately and adheres to Infection Control Policy and Protocols
