About The Position
Short Stay Unit Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) 3 x 12 hour shifts, Nights including rotation to weekends The Short Stay Unit is a 12 bed observation unit here at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. The average stay is one overnight with the possibility of a second when indicated and we have a 4 to 1 patient to nurse ratio. We care for every adult population here at Dartmouth-Hitchcock with an emphasis on postsurgical care. Our specialty areas include cardiology, urology, oncology, gynecology, orthopedics and much more. This unit provides the new nurse ample opportunities to hone their fundamental nursing skills while utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, organize, and provide the best possible patient care
Requirements
- Previous hospital experience preferred.
- Must demonstrate keyboarding skills and be familiar with computer use.
- High school graduate required.
- Licensed Nursing Assistant in the State of NH required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.

Responsibilities
- Assists with routine patient care activities under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, including, but not be limited to, performing ADL’s, obtaining clinical data, including vital signs, heights and weights, utilizing universal precautions, collecting specimens or performing point of care testing and recording results in medical record, etc.
- Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment by keeping the hallways clear of excess equipment, emptying linen bags when full, etc.
- Assists visitors and answer telephones.
- Assists new co-workers in learning the work of the department.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
