About The Position

The Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LMHT) manages the Mental Health program, including researching best practices, programmatic enhancements, and participating in expansion opportunities and community outreach when requested. The MHT informs the Director of Programs about concerns, opportunities, and the overall health of the program. This person possesses strong leadership, conflict-resolution, and critical-thinking skills during calm and challenging times, supporting clients and staff. This individual interacts with all levels of the agency and can seamlessly manage competing priorities. The LMHT ensures proper execution of all policies and procedures according to agency practice, adhering to the best practices, ethics, and laws of the industry. The LMHT provides the required level of client case load and manages the mental health program at DAWN. At times, the LMHT will assist with internal consults with direct services staff as it pertains to mental health issues with clients.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field.
  • A licensed therapist in the State of Washington.
  • Preferred licenses LMHC, LICSW, LMFT.
  • Demonstrated expertise in providing therapeutic services to domestic violence survivors.
  • Experience providing supervision to master level interns.
  • Experience in completing mental health assessments and referrals.
  • Experience in completing chemical dependency screenings and referrals.

Nice To Haves

  • Language capacity (Spanish preferred).
  • Current CPR/First Aid and HIV/AIDS training preferred or able to secure within one month of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide brief assessments to referred program participants with mental health concerns.
  • Provide trauma-informed mental health treatment to a designated number of program participants.
  • Provide crisis intervention services to program participants.
  • Providing ongoing internal consultation to staff to ensure the best standard of care for agency participants.
  • Engage in consultations with external service providers.
  • Ensure program participants are connected to appropriate mental health/chemical dependency services.
  • Provide crisis de-escalation services to shelter clients experiencing mental health crises.
  • Conduct initial mental health assessments for shelter residents to determine immediate safety and service needs.
  • Triage clients to determine the appropriate level of care and make referrals when services exceed organizational capacity.
  • Collaborate with shelter advocates to ensure coordinated care for clients with mental health needs.
  • Enter consistently complete, accurate, and appropriate participant and service data into the agency database.
  • Respond to meet data needs.
  • Serve as a liaison for the MIDD contract and initiative.
  • Maintain all records/documentation as required by agency policy and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely submission of required reports/forms/statistics.
  • Collaborate with agency leadership in program development.
  • Help create and maintain agency trauma-informed policy and procedures.
  • Attend and document training to ensure compliance with Washington Administrative Code training requirements for domestic violence advocates.
  • Participate in staff meetings and team activities, planning days and agency in-service training as it pertains to mental health.
  • Attend and participate in all supervision/collaborative meetings and training courses.
  • Oversee agency programmatic affiliations.
