Duties and responsibilities of the Licensed Mental Health Professional is to evaluate detainees with emphasis on prevention of suicide, self-harm, and incident prevention. The LMHP may utilize brief counseling and skills building to help individuals cope with their current circumstances of incarceration, detoxing, stress management, suicide ideation, and issues associated with mental and emotional health. LMHP will work closely with the detention team, medical staff and the psychiatric provider to make timely referrals to services within the detainees community and will work on a professional level and conduct professional duties in a variety of non-traditional settings and within the polices set for by Eddy County Detention Center and Eddy County while maintaining strict confidentiality at all times. Employee performs work alone without direction, may work with one or two other people. Employee may be required to work irregular hours, attend job-related meetings, and perform all other duties as assigned. The LMHP will adhere to ethical standards of their respective credentials.
