The REAL Deal Social Worker is a 12-month, full-time embedded role serving students within the Little Rock School District’s Alternative Learning Environment campuses (Hamilton Learning Center and ACC) and in collaboration with the City of Little Rock Summer Youth Program. This position provides direct student support through behavioral assessments, crisis response, trauma-informed care, case management, and coordination with community-based health and mental health services. The Social Worker delivers relationship-based curriculum in small-group settings, provides individual and group coaching, supports classroom and campus needs, and monitors student progress. This role strengthens school-home-community partnerships, removes barriers to learning, and supports healthy relationships, emotional regulation, improved attendance, and long-term planning for REAL Deal participants, in alignment with READY4Life goals and all applicable federal, state, and LRSD standards.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW).
  • Recognized as a Social Worker in the State of Arkansas.
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) required; Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred.
  • Strong foundation in trauma-informed care, crisis response, and case management.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state regulations related to disabilities, mental health, child welfare, confidentiality, mandated reporting, and student and family rights.
  • Proven ability to engage high-risk youth with empathy, cultural competence, and trauma awareness.
  • Skilled in crisis de-escalation, safety planning, and coordinating community-based services.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in collaborative, fast-paced, and diverse school and community environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) or more years of experience supporting youth or families in school-based, clinical, or community settings.

Responsibilities

  • Student Intake, Assessment, Interventions & Case Management Serve as a trusted advocate by conducting student intakes, diagnostic assessments, and needs evaluations in alignment with student and family rights. Translate assessment findings into effective short- and long-term intervention plans that support academic success and overall well-being. Provide trauma-informed, one-on-one support, including emotional regulation coaching and timely crisis intervention. Connect students and families to health, mental health, behavioral, and community resources in collaboration with LRSD Behavioral Health, ACASA, Family Peace Center, ARCC, and other partners. Consult with school teams on attendance challenges, behavior concerns, homelessness, crisis response, mental health needs, child abuse/neglect, confidentiality, and other barriers to learning. Advocate for appropriate services while supporting student retention, improved attendance, and successful transitions.
  • Program Delivery, Student Engagement & Campus Integration Serve as the embedded UAMS presence at ALE/ACC campuses and City of Little Rock youth centers, building strong, consistent relationships. Deliver and support the Love Notes 4.1 curriculum in alignment with REAL Deal goals and student needs. Lead REAL Deal Clubs, student ambassador initiatives, enrichment activities, and targeted small-group support sessions. Collaborate closely with administrators, counselors, teachers, and youth program staff to create a coordinated, student-centered approach. Support guest speakers, family engagement activities, and community partnership events.
  • Documentation, Compliance & Program Reporting Maintain accurate, timely case records and service documentation in accordance with UAMS, LRSD, and federal requirements. Complete required data entry and reporting, including nFORM, Ensora assessments, student logs, service notes, and referrals. Ensure compliance with laws governing confidentiality, disabilities, mental health, child welfare, mandated reporting, and student and family rights. Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) efforts and maintain fidelity to READY4Life reporting standards.
  • Outreach, Training & Additional Responsibilities Participate in required trainings, including trauma-informed care, Love Notes curriculum, LRSD professional development, and safety/compliance modules. Support outreach, recruitment, summer boot camps, and virtual or in-person make-up programming. Perform additional duties that support program goals and student success.
