Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Masters Degree
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, or Satori Alternatives Management of Aggression must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Responsibilities

  • Identifies cultural considerations, gender identity and preferred language for patients and family
  • Completes assessments and all other documentation timely and in compliance with requirements (as appropriate to scope)
  • Assesses environment and patient's safety status and reports/responds to actual and potential safety issues or changes in the patients condition
  • Identifies risk factors, screening criteria and interventions for patients with special precautions (e.g., suicide, homicide, falls, elopement)
  • Recognizes and acts upon unexpected assessment findings
  • Contributes to ensuring a safe structured milieu with evidence based treatment modalities/resources
  • Maintains active and timely communication with patients, families, multidisciplinary team and continuum of care providers
  • Understands state commitment processes, abuse reporting requirements, duty to warn and guardianship processes
  • Assesses, collaborates, and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs and readiness for discharge with the multidisciplinary team
  • Develops and maintains a community resource guide including access to public assistance/alternatives
  • Facilitates and participates in Community Education, Activities and Support Groups (as appropriate to scope)
  • Conducts post-discharge follow-up if indicated
  • Assists with Process and Quality Improvement initiatives
  • Delivers patient care based on accepted standards of care
  • Demonstrates appropriate application of age/developmental stage specific standards, policies and procedures, and guidelines in assessing and treating patients to ensure patient safety
  • Maintains professionalism and uses good communication skills in interacting with peers, staff, patients, families and in resolving conflicts
  • Demonstrates understanding of and ability to maintain clear professional boundaries with peers, patients and families
  • Serves as an educational resource to patients, families, interdisciplinary team members, payer representatives, and other parties as appropriate regarding behavioral services
  • Performs utilization review as assigned
  • Participates in developing department goals/objectives and clinical programming
  • Reviews, coaches and assists with training of new staff/interns as assigned within approved practice and program guidelines
  • Demonstrates knowledge and role in hospital codes
  • Follows all hospital and department policies and procedures
