About The Position

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Project Management, the Licensed Electrician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, upgrading, and installing electrical systems across a portfolio of commercial facilities and assigned residential properties. The Licensed Electrician ensures all electrical systems are safe, reliable, and fully compliant with National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, professional judgment, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively to emergency situations. This position supports day-to-day operations, preventive maintenance programs, emergency response, and capital improvement projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of electrical experience working as an electrician in commercial and residential settings required; seven (7) years of experience or more preferred.
  • Valid NYS Electrician’s license required
  • Must be efficient, well organized, and have excellent communication skills
  • Ability to respond safely and calmly to emergency requests
  • Knowledge of NEC and OSHA regulations
  • Ability to work independently and proactively address issues as they arise
  • Valid Driver’s License and satisfy criteria to be an agency driver required
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations, including during weekends and holidays, as directed by the VP of Project Management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with low voltage cabling preferred
  • Experience in electrical/maintenance industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains, calibrates upgrades, and repairs electrical systems including panels, feeders, branch circuits, wiring, lighting, controls, and receptacles.
  • Performs routine testing, inspections, corrective and preventive maintenance of electrical systems and equipment in commercial facilities and residential properties.
  • Diagnoses electrical failures and implement timely, cost-effective corrective actions.
  • Ensures optimal and continuous operation of all electrical systems across facilities.
  • Completes required documentation, work orders, inspections, and compliance records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical issues including power loss, breaker trips, lighting failures, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintains and repairs emergency systems such as generators, transfer switches, emergency lighting, and related interfaces as needed.
  • Installs new electrical systems for renovations, tenant improvements, residential unit turnovers, and capital projects.
  • Performs lighting upgrades including LED retrofits, lighting controls, occupancy sensors, and energy-efficient solutions.
  • Assists with electrical rough-ins and finish work for residential and commercial renovations.
  • Installs, routes, and secures low-voltage cabling as needed.
  • Coordinates electrical and low-voltage pathways to ensure proper separation from power, fire stopping, and code compliance.
  • Responds to emergency electrical situations and provides coverage until issues are fully resolved as needed.
  • Supports energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
  • Supports office buildings, community facilities, and other commercial spaces with minimal disruption to occupants.
  • Completes assigned residential service calls and work orders.
  • Supports unit turnover schedules and vacancy preparation timelines.
  • Identifies electrical hazards and recommend corrective actions proactively.
  • Observes agency policies for building security and identification of authorized personnel.
  • Ensures the safety of all consumers, staff, and visitors present at work sites.
  • Ensures all work is performed in accordance with NEC, local jurisdictional requirements, and OSHA safety standards. Adhere strictly to NEC, OSHA, and agency safety policies.
  • Reports all safety violations.
  • Ensures that all required documentation (paper and electronic) is completed /processed appropriately, in a timely manner, and meets quality and compliance thresholds.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
