About The Position

ASRC Federal System Solutions is seeking a Licensed Electrician / Installation Technician to support the FAA’s Radar System Replacement (RSR) program, the largest and most significant radar modernization effort within the National Airspace System (NAS). This role will provide licensed electrical expertise in support of the installation, power integration, grounding, and startup of cooperative, non-cooperative, and integrated surveillance systems at FAA facilities nationwide. Work location: Remote, travel required. Clearance: Public Trust. US Citizenship to successfully complete a government investigation. Summary This position is central to ensuring that all electrical installation activities are performed safely, correctly, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and FAA requirements. The Licensed Electrician will execute and oversee electrical work associated with radar equipment power distribution, grounding and earthing systems, surge protection devices, and coordination with FAA facility power infrastructure. The Engineering / Installation Technician (Licensed Electrician) will work closely with construction managers, system engineers, and installation teams to support successful installation, testing, and acceptance of radar systems under a compressed, nationwide deployment schedule.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship or trade program required.
  • 2-4 years with demonstrated experience performing commercial or industrial electrical work.
  • Must have active licensed electrician certification (state or jurisdictional license)
  • Hands-on experience with power distribution systems, electrical panels, grounding, bonding, and surge protection.
  • Experience installing and terminating electrical cabling for technical or mission-critical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, local codes).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and installation documentation.
  • Experience working in operational or safety-critical environments with strict compliance requirements.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to FAA sites nationwide.
  • Physical ability to perform field electrical work, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
  • US Citizenship to successfully complete a government investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting FAA facilities, air traffic management systems, or federal infrastructure programs.
  • Prior electrical installation experience on radar systems, communications systems, or other high-reliability technical installations.
  • Experience with grounding, lightning protection systems, and SPDs at exposed or elevated sites.
  • Familiarity with radar room environments, equipment racks, and mission-critical power systems.
  • OSHA safety certification or equivalent electrical safety training.
  • Experience supporting multi-site deployment programs with parallel installation schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Perform licensed electrical installation activities supporting radar room equipment, antenna systems, and associated infrastructure.
  • Install, terminate, and test power cabling for radar, communications, and support equipment in accordance with approved designs and electrical codes.
  • Coordinate with FAA facility personnel for connection into site power switchboards and electrical distribution systems.
  • Install and connect grounding and earthing systems, including busbars, grounding conductors, and Surge Protective Devices (SPDs).
  • Support power connection testing, verification, and documentation required for system energization.
  • Assist with electrical aspects of antenna installations, including power, grounding, and lightning protection interfaces.
  • Support installation acceptance testing (IAT) and system start-up activities related to electrical and power subsystems.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical installation issues encountered during field activities.
  • Prepare required electrical installation documentation, reports, and as-built information.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with safety, security, quality, and FAA operational requirements.
