This is a fantastic opportunity to put your expanded functions to use while making a positive impact in the lives of children every day. MPDA is a specialty dental practice certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. We provide expert pediatric dental care for infants, toddlers, children, pre-teens, and teens at our 4 locations throughout the Twin Cities, including St. Paul, Fridley, North Oaks, and Eagan. Our gentle and compassionate team of pediatric specialists have been delivering high-quality pediatric dental care tailored to the unique needs of growing smiles since 1965.

Responsibilities

  • Provide chairside assistance to pediatric dentists during exams, treatments, and procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Prepare treatment areas, sterilize and set up necessary instruments and equipment. Ensure patient comfort by explaining procedures and addressing any concerns.
  • Take dental X-rays while following safety protocols for pediatric patients. Ensure the accurate positioning and technique for high-quality images.
  • Maintain high standards of sterilization and infection control protocols, ensuring that all dental instruments and equipment are properly sanitized and safe for use.
  • Utilize your expanded functions as permitted by Minnesota state law, including taking impressions, placing dental sealants, performing coronal polishing, and applying fluoride treatments.
  • Educate children and their parents on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Provide guidance on nutrition and the importance of regular dental visits.
  • Ensure that the patient flow remains efficient by managing appointment schedules, assisting with patient transitions between procedures, and keeping wait times minimal.
  • Accurately record patient information, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes in the electronic health record (EHR) system. Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist in managing anxious or uncooperative pediatric patients with calming techniques, distraction methods, and appropriate behavioral guidance during procedures.
  • Work closely with pediatric dentists, hygienists, office staff, and parents to create a supportive, compassionate environment that prioritizes the well-being of young patients.
