About The Position

Creative Arts Therapist is a person who holds a Master's Degree in art, music, drama, or dance therapy. A creative arts therapist is responsible for providing a variety of therapeutic services to a diverse population using art, music, movement and/or drama to enhance the emotional and mental wellbeing of individuals. As a member of therapeutic services, a creative arts therapist is also responsible for the assessment, treatment planning and documentation of the assigned clients as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Creative Arts Therapy
• New York State license required or limited permit
• Completed an internship in a behavioral health setting, or previous work experience in a behavioral health setting.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the interdisciplinary treatment team meeting and development of the treatment plan as it relates to the use of creative arts and therapeutic rehabilitation services.
• Demonstrate competency in use of materials/modalities to facilitate self-expression, to facilitate healing and enhance function.
• Demonstrates professional competency in group, individual therapies.
• Assists with department Performance Improvement activities Identifies areas of needed training and development specific to the Creative Arts practice.
• Demonstrates awareness of evidence based practices in creative arts and related fields.
• Performs related duties, as required.
