About The Position

Provide counseling services for clients with substance use and/or mental health diagnosis according to best practice.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Clinical Social Work, or another field approved by the NCASPPB.
  • Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS/LCAS-A) is preferred.
  • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) or LCMHC-A, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or LCSW-A preferred.
  • Must be licensed & dual license is a significant plus.
  • Minimum of two years of counseling experience.
  • Valid NC or SC Driver’s License.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Pleasant personality and professional demeanor.
  • Strong work ethic.

Nice To Haves

  • A concentration in substance use disorder treatment and mental health treatment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counseling services to clients according to state/agency guidelines.
  • Inform the individual about benefits, community resources, and services.
  • Monitor signs and symptoms of alcohol and other drug intoxication and withdrawal as well as the treatment and monitoring of those conditions.
  • Provide crisis interventions, when clinically necessary.
  • Ensure linkage to medically necessary services including arranging for psychological and psychiatric evaluations.
  • Complete psychosocial assessments and evaluate client behaviors as needed.
  • Consult with other disciplinary teams when evaluating client physical/mental health.
  • Participate in the development of an individualized person-centered plan and/or service plan, monitor client progress, provide ongoing assessment/reassessment and update/revise as needed.
  • Facilitate client admissions and transition/discharges when appropriate.
  • Submit authorizations for services when needed.
  • Complete client episodes/updates in NC Topps and GPRA’s as needed.
  • Manage all aspects of a client case load from date of entry to date of discharge.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, using evidenced based practice, to include psychoeducation groups and family groups.
  • Provide education to family members and facilitate family involvement in clients’ recovery/withdrawal management, when needed, with their consent.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation in electronic record according to established standards and monitor documentation for compliance with state/agency/federal regulations.
  • Complete and submit incident reports when appropriate in accordance to state/agency guidelines.
  • Participate in QA and QI activities as assigned. Ensure the timely completion of out of compliance items. Conduct Peer review when assigned.
  • Participate in clinical supervision.
  • Facilitate training activities for interns from colleges and universities as assigned.
  • Administer medications to clients as needed, per providers orders, in absence of or along with nurse (training required).
  • Complete UDS screenings as needed.
  • Adhere to professional standards as outlined by applicable governing boards, code of ethics, protocols, and rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
