Freedom Detox, a part of Pyramid Healthcare, is seeking a compassionate and motivated Licensed Counselor to join their clinical team in Gastonia, North Carolina. This role is for a licensed behavioral health professional passionate about helping individuals overcome substance use and mental health challenges in a supportive detox and recovery setting. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, provides high-quality clinical care, and wants to make a meaningful impact daily.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Chemical Dependency, or related field
  • Active North Carolina clinical license or associate-level license (LCSWA / LCSW, LCMHCA / LCMHC, LMFTA / LMFT)
  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and effective during crisis situations
  • Knowledge of state regulations, accreditation standards, and compliance expectations

Nice To Haves

  • LCASA / LCAS
  • Experience in substance use treatment, trauma-informed care, detox, or mental health settings

Responsibilities

  • Assess behavioral, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and social needs of clients and families
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and monitor individualized treatment goals
  • Provide individual counseling, family sessions, therapeutic groups, and discharge planning support
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record
  • Support utilization review processes and authorization requests
  • Participate in aftercare planning and continuity of care coordination
  • Assist with program curriculum development, staff training, and clinical best practices
  • Provide crisis intervention and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment
  • Participate in on-call rotation as assigned
  • Complete required trainings and other duties as needed
