About The Position

PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE The Hope Center Licensed Clinical Therapist (LPC) provides trauma-informed, evidence-based treatment to children, youth, and families exposed to various kinds of traumatic events. Treatment services include assessment, crisis intervention, and individual, group, and family therapy.

Requirements

Master’s degree in counseling required.
A licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is required.
Eligible to bill for therapy services.
Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience in community mental health with emphasis on underserved and at-risk children and adolescents.
Preferred experience working with foster care, child welfare, court system, and needy families in community mental health settings.
Must renew license/s annually.
Demonstrated ability to work with multicultural populations, particularly Latino. Knowledge and awareness of disparities of race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity is important.
Clinical training and experience providing trauma-informed treatments to clients and families with complex trauma and attachment difficulties related to abuse, neglect, interpersonal and community violence, and foster care placement.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekend and evening hours.
Skills in establishing and maintaining effective relationships.
Skills in organizing work in a responsible way in an environment with multiple challenges and priorities.
Ability to prepare clear and complete documentation.
Skill in leading and prioritizing work for internal staff and others working on projects in collaboration with the Agency.
Ability to work independently when necessary.

Nice To Haves

Being bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Preferred experience working with foster care, child welfare, court system, and needy families in community mental health settings.

Responsibilities

Provides diagnostic assessment and treatment services, including individual and group counseling sessions for clients using one or more evidence-based treatment models, including but not limited to, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Trust-Based Relational Interventions (TBRI), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Responsible for formulating, implementing, and documenting treatment strategies for clients and their families on their assigned caseload in a timely manner.
Writes assessment reports and treatment plans and reviews treatment plans for assigned cases in accordance with acceptable clinical standards.
Participates in weekly face-to-face clinical team meetings.
Carries a full clinical caseload of 25-30 clients based on individual acuity.
Conducts one clinical group per week based on Agency needs.
Maintains client records in accordance with applicable standards, including Council on Accreditation, TMHP, licensing, and agency standards.
Functions as member of Hope Center clinical team, coordinating services with social workers, Medical Director, psychiatric residents, and administrative staff.
Provides direct clinical services, assessment/evaluation, therapy, crisis intervention, ethical and legal responsibilities, and high-quality clinical documentation.
Provides culturally appropriate services to clients in the care of The Children’s Shelter.
Works effectively as a member of the agency’s treatment team.
Maintains state licensure to include jurisprudence exam and updated license posted in the office.
Contributes to building a child welfare system that is safe, secure, and stable; family-centered; connected to the community; which relies on evidence-based practice necessary to support contract services in Bexar County.
Adheres to all policies and procedures of the agency and its accrediting and standard-setting bodies, such as the Council on Accreditation (COA) and state licensing.
Maintains client confidentiality per The Children’s Shelter standards and all applicable codes of ethics
