About The Position

This position will offer guidance to individuals, couples, families and groups who are dealing with issues that affect their mental health and well-being to victimization. Will work with identified victims of crime, and Bear River Tribal families to establish individual goals and develop approaches to improve emotional stability and safety increase skills in coping and communication, improve self-esteem, promote changes in behavior and strive for improved mental well-being. Represents the Tribes interest before various Social Services related bodies and committees on mental health matters; and performs related work as required.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Mental Health Clinician or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Diagnostic Statistical Manual 5 (DSM-5) and the application of effective therapeutic treatment approaches.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the use of Motivational Interviewing.
  • Knowledge of community support services and resources.
  • Indian Child Welfare Act and Native American history knowledge and cultural sensitivity.
  • Office practices and procedures, including filing and the operation of office equipment.
  • Proficient use of the English language in both verbal and written format.
  • Relating well to children, adolescents, and adults of all ages.
  • Dealing effective reports, corresponding and other written materials.
  • Case management and maintaining accurate records and files.
  • Exercising sound independent judgement within established policy and procedural guidelines.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
  • Through knowledge in the application of all confidentiality standards including file management, and document sharing.
  • Must have a Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Must have 2 /years of related experience of post Master’s Social Work experience with youth, elders, and persons with addictive behaviors.
  • License of Clinical Social Services from Behavioral Science.
  • Must demonstrate emotional stability, adaptability, patience, self-control, and tact.
  • Must possess good communication skills, a professional appearance, and good judgement in moral, ethical, cultural, and spiritual matters.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have cultural sensitivity to the needs of the Indian community.
  • Must be willing to work evening hours, as needed.
  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling. The degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation; Current licensure as a mental health counselor i.e. LPC or LPCC.
  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of higher education work experience.
  • Evidence of continual professional development in the field of concentration.
  • Shall possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by agencies insurance.
  • Must provide or obtain CPR & First Aide certification within three (3) months of hire.
  • Must have valid License: Clinical Social Worker with current valid license through the California Board of Behavioral Science.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
  • Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays & special events as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Work with individuals, groups, and communities to improve mental health.
  • Complete assessments and develop appropriate intervention and treatment plans for individuals, couples, families and groups.
  • Monitor progress throughout the treatment plan.
  • Encourage clients to discuss emotions and experiences.
  • Evaluating clients, mental, behavioral and emotional health.
  • Collect, Intake, and demographic information about clients data reports as necessary.
  • Help clients define goals, plan action, monitor progress and gain insight.
  • Develop therapeutic processes and treatment plans using evidence based models when available and appropriate.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Refer clients to psychiatrist and services necessary to meet their identified needs.
  • Take holistic (mind and body) approach to mental health care.
  • Identify and prevent behaviors that impede recovery.
  • Educate family members and primary caregivers on assisting with behavioral challenges.
  • Respond to and provide consultation during crisis situations.
  • Work directly with clients to help them overcome mental health issues and lead a healthier life.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
