About The Position

Solterra Academy provides comprehensive special education services for students ages 5 to 22 who require intensive support due to emotional, behavioral, cognitive, developmental, and/or learning challenges. We are committed to creating a therapeutic, structured, and student-centered environment that supports the growth, independence, and success of every learner. We are seeking a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our multidisciplinary clinical team. This role plays a vital part in supporting students’ social-emotional, behavioral, and therapeutic needs through direct services, case management, collaboration with families, and coordination with internal and external providers. The Clinical Social Worker works closely with teachers, clinicians, and administrators to implement IEPs, Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and school-wide therapeutic practices. Position Type: 10-Month, Full-Time, Exempt Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (In-Person) Summer Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM (In-Person) Please note: This position requires a year-round commitment, including both the regular school year and our summer session. We do not offer summer-only employment.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited program
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervised clinical experience with children and adolescents
  • Valid CT 071 School Social Worker Certification
  • Active Connecticut Social Work Licensure (DPH)
  • CPR Certification within 90 days of hire (training provided)
  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Certification (training provided and maintained)
  • Ability to obtain Clinical Licensure within two years of eligibility
  • All candidates for employment will be subject to pre-employment background screening for this position, which include drug testing based on the position description and job requirements. All offers are contingent upon the successful completion of the background check.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and modify Behavior Intervention Plans using functional behavioral assessments and data-driven practices.
  • Provide classroom-based Social Emotional Learning (SEL) groups and therapeutic interventions.
  • Prepare and monitor student IEP goals and objectives in SMARTIE format.
  • Develop Safety Plans and Skills Development Plans as needed.
  • Provide therapeutic services and crisis intervention to students during the school day.
  • Conduct home visits when necessary.
  • Coordinate care with families, community agencies, psychiatrists, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Consult with teachers and classroom staff to support positive student behavior and provide training on BIPs and Safety Plans.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain behavioral and therapeutic data.
  • Complete Medicaid documentation, service logs, and required reports accurately and on time.
  • Monitor and document restraints and seclusions in accordance with TCI and state regulations.
  • Actively supervise and engage students in all school environments.
  • Participate in PPT meetings, Team Meetings, and Case Conferences.
  • Adhere to ethical, professional, and regulatory standards.
