About The Position

Are you a board-certified or board-eligible Neurologist passionate about serving military service members and their families? Join the elite interdisciplinary care team at the Intrepid Spirit Center at Fort Cavazos, TX, where you'll provide expert neurological care for service members affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI) and complex neurological conditions. We are seeking a Licensed Clinical Neurologist to deliver advanced diagnostic and treatment services in support of the Defense Health Agency.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited U.S. or Canadian medical school. Foreign graduates must provide evidence of equivalency via ECFMG certification.
  • Board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
  • Current, valid, unrestricted license as a Neurologist from a U.S. state, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
  • Successful completion of an accredited internship and residency program in Neurology (ACGME or AOA approved). At least one (1) year of supervised clinical experience post-degree.
  • Minimum two (2) years of direct patient care experience in a clinical setting within the past five (5) years, with privileges as a neurologist.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • DEA registration number required.
  • Must obtain and maintain a 10-digit NPI.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat neurological disorders, performing comprehensive neurological examinations and interpreting diagnostic results including MRIs, CT scans, and EEGs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique neurological conditions.
  • Routinely conduct thorough studies utilizing electroencephalography, Magnetic-encephalography (MEG), olfactory testing, neuro-regenerative, and neuro-cognitive evaluations.
  • Integrate neurological test results with imaging studies, laboratory data, and clinical findings to prescribe appropriate treatment including neuro-pharmaceuticals.
  • Provide episodic care to clinic patients on a walk-in basis as needed.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in neurology, collaborating with physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists, and other specialists.
  • Oversee and educate interdisciplinary teams responsible for testing and treating patients with neurological disorders, ensuring the highest standards of professional practice and ethics.
  • Continually foster an interdisciplinary approach to care relying on pattern recognition of physical, behavioral, social, and spiritual conditions.
  • Document and close notes in MHS Genesis
  • Respond to beneficiary messages in the MHS Genesis secure portal
