Summary Provides culturally sensitive, confidential counseling to students seeking help in coping with college life, relationship or family issues, academic challenges, depression or anxiety, disordered eating, or other behavioral health issues. Provides emergency triage and referral for at-risk students, and consultation with faculty, staff and families within the bounds of confidentiality. Provides liaison with campus organizations and actives that promote psychological and behavioral health, and the integration of counseling services into overall student success in the college experience.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related mental health field.
  • 2 years of experience in a clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical assessment, counseling and therapy.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide counseling services that are sensitive to gender identity / sexual / relational, racial, ethnic and disability issues, in a college campus environment.
  • Demonstrated attributes that will promote effective representation of counseling services to the campus community, as well as foster meaningful relationships with a wide range of students, families, faculty and staff.
  • LCSW - Licensed Clinical Social Worker - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or LPC - Licensed Professional Counselor - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.

Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally sensitive, confidential counseling to students seeking help in coping with college life, relationship or family issues, academic challenges, depression or anxiety, disordered eating or other behavioral health issues - all in line with LVPG and Department of Psychiatry outpatient standards and values.
  • Provide liaison and support with campus organizations and activities that promote psychological and behavioral health, environmental safety, and the integration of counseling services into overall student success in the college experience.
  • Provide suicide or other risk assessment as indicated, and provide emergency triage and referral for students experiencing acute distress.
  • Provide consultation services to faculty, staff and families within the bounds of confidentiality.
