About The Position

The Child and Family Mental Health Therapist will provide intake and assessment services for child and adult individuals, group and family therapy, and referral and follow-up services. Hours of work are flexible to meet program needs, with some evenings and weekends required.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling or psychiatric nursing.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Minimum of two years’ experience providing mental health services to families and children.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, the community, and other staff members.
  • Must pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
  • Must pass criminal background and DMV checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within the Native American / Alaskan Native community a plus.
  • Alcohol and Drug Certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assess all children entering NARA residential program, implementing services as needed.
  • Provide play therapy to children as indicated.
  • Provide family therapy for adults involved with Family Involvement Team (FIT) program.
  • Assess families entering residential treatment with children.
  • Conduct family sessions with adult clients and their family members not in treatment.
  • Conduct couples’ sessions, as needed, with adult clients entering treatment with their partners.
  • Conduct parenting services as needed.
  • Provide psycho-educational lectures to client community as needed.
  • Provide mental health support to clients experiencing mental health crisis.
  • Provide resources and consultation to counselors and Child Development Center (CDC) staff regarding mental health uses, children’s development and mental health uses, family dynamics and therapy, and other matters.
  • Document in writing all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries and other documentation in accordance with all governmental laws and guidelines.
  • Participate in community mental health awareness and community outreach programs of NARA-NW.
  • Provide mental health “on-call” services as needed.
