About The Position

Intermediate District 287 is seeking a Licensed Behavior Intervention Specialist for an opening at West Education Center located in Minnetonka. The district serves students in grades K-12, as well as transition age students (18-22 years old), from 12 member districts in the west metro area. The district offers a wide range of services and specialized programs, primarily focused on setting IV special education, designed to meet the diverse needs of its students. Intermediate District 287 is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for both students and staff, utilizing a trauma-informed approach to understand the impact of past trauma on student behaviors and create a safe space. Each school is equipped with a dedicated team including School Social Workers, Psychologists, Counselors, Behavior Intervention Specialists, and Student Safety Coaches who collaborate to build meaningful relationships and support student success. The district offers personalized attention in small classes, with an average of 6-8 students per class. Intermediate District 287 values diverse perspectives and life experiences, with a strategic vision focused on hiring and retaining racially diverse and racially conscious staff across all levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or related field
  • Moderate experience working in a job related field
  • Valid special education teaching license, school social worker license, or school psychologist license issued by the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB), or Board Certified Behavior Analyst Certification (BCBA - Nationally certified), or in the process of obtaining the certification
