Summary : The Licensed Athletic Trainer function as a member of the clinics patient care team and is responsible for the preparation of new patients prior to their specialist visit. In conjunction with the provider during office visits, will provide injury prevention, treatment, and care planning for the orthopedic and sports medicine patient based on provider protocol.

Requirements

  • Athletic Trainer: Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training
  • Certified Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC)
  • Licensed Athletic Trainer by the State of Wisconsin.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • QUALIFICATIONS CMA: Valid certification or registration through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or American Medical Technologist (AMT) or National Healthcare Association (NHA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or a valid State of Wisconsin Licensed Practical Nurse license.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

  • Gathers pertinent clinical patient information and documents to ensure accuracy of the patients’ medical record.
  • Coordinates care with the physician to provide education regarding injury prevention and treatment.
  • Consults with the physician to create the patients plan of care.
  • Acts as a scribe for the physician for each patient/physician experience to improve clinic/patient flow and efficiencies.
  • Preparation and/or assisting with in office procedures to provide optimal patient experience and quality care.
  • Casting and splinting; fits crutches, braces and other durable medical equipment to achieve best practice and highest quality patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrates professional and therapeutic relationships with patients, families, team members, and providers.
  • Knowledge of state law and national regulations, athletic training guidelines as outlined by the National Athletic Training Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC) and state of Wisconsin licensure, clinic policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Performs other clinical and administrative tasks that allow for effective use of resources to best serve the patient’s needs.
