The Licensed Athletic Trainer functions as a member of the clinic's patient care team, responsible for preparing new patients prior to their specialist visit. In conjunction with the provider during office visits, the Athletic Trainer will provide injury prevention, treatment, and care planning for orthopedic and sports medicine patients based on provider protocol.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training
  • Certified Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC)
  • Licensed Athletic Trainer by the State of Wisconsin.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)

Responsibilities

  • Gathers pertinent clinical patient information and documents to ensure accuracy of the patients’ medical record.
  • Coordinates care with the physician to provide education regarding injury prevention and treatment.
  • Consults with the physician to create the patients plan of care.
  • Acts as a scribe for the physician for each patient/physician experience to improve clinic/patient flow and efficiencies.
  • Preparation and/or assisting with in office procedures to provide optimal patient experience and quality care.
  • Casting and splinting; fits crutches, braces and other durable medical equipment to achieve best practice and highest quality patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrates professional and therapeutic relationships with patients, families, team members, and providers.
  • Knowledge of state law and national regulations, athletic training guidelines as outlined by the National Athletic Training Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC) and state of Wisconsin licensure, clinic policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Performs other clinical and administrative tasks that allow for effective use of resources to best serve the patient’s needs.
