The Counselor is accountable for providing patients and their families with the accurate diagnosis, appropriate assessment, therapy, counseling, and assistance. This role involves maintaining good relationships with patients, their families, medical staff, and other personnel within the medical complex, as well as with outside organizations. Confidentiality of patient information must be upheld, and the Counselor is expected to establish effective working relationships with other treatment team members. Accurate documentation in the progress notes and treatment plan is also a critical responsibility. Counselors providing adolescent services and family counseling must meet specific training requirements, or training will be provided. Knowledge of substance use disorder and 12 Step recovery philosophies is essential. Experience providing counseling services to patients is preferred. A Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) in the State of Minnesota is required. Additionally, Fountain Centers requires a current driver's license, while Mayo Clinic Rochester does not. Staff at Fountain Centers must be able to complete and pass BLS and First Aid training within 90 days of hire.
