About The Position

Licensed alcohol and drug counselor responsible to provide direct patient care to individuals struggling with an alcohol and/or drug addiction. Facilitate group counseling. Facilitate individual counseling. Facilitate family groups. Complete a psychosocial assessment and make appropriate recommendations for level of care needed. Provide crisis interventions as needed. Complete a treatment plan within the 6 dimensions with each patient. Complete an intake to a 245g program meeting all requirements. Work within a collaborative care team. Provide alcohol and drug education. Complete urinalysis and mouth swabs. Competency: vulnerable adult reporting, maltreatment of minors, patient consents/rights/releases, prenatal exposure, HIV minimum standards, ethical boundaries, commitments, and cultural. Participate in monthly supervision to review patient cases and quality reviews. Uphold all ethical and legal guidelines pertaining to practice of substance use disorders. Read, understand, and implement all clinical policies / procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Alcohol and Drug Studies, Integrated Behavioral Health, or related
  • 1 year of experience required.
  • Alcohol and Drug Counselor license through the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy required.
  • Proficient use of counseling skills, including CBT, MI, and DBT
  • Experience completing biopsychosocial assessments
  • Experience in making recommendations for patients to appropriate ASAM levels of care
  • Experience in conducting group counseling
  • Applied knowledge in the 12 core functions and ASAM diagnostic criteria
  • 12 months of experience providing counseling services to patients.
