About The Position

This position is very rewarding in training and mentoring at-risk youth. The Licensed Addiction Counselor will report to the Health and Wellness Manager (RN) and is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing all programs related to substance use and abuse prevention and intervention. This role involves coordinating programs to reduce and eliminate substance use and abuse in compliance with Department of Labor/Job Corps guidelines, conducting in-service training sessions, monitoring student behavior, and maintaining confidential reports and records.

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted substance abuse license or certification that meets state requirements.
  • Prefer one year of work-related experience.
  • Prefer experience working with youth.
  • Prefer a Master’s degree and previous experience with disadvantaged youth in a residential setting.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
  • Employment contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.

  • Training skills in individual and group counseling methods.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and relate to the trainee population.
  • Ability to operate office equipment and computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement programs related to substance use and abuse prevention and intervention.
  • Coordinate programs to reduce and eliminate substance use and abuse in compliance with guidelines.
  • Conduct in-service training sessions with staff and students on substance use and abuse.
  • Submit recommendations for medical terminations related to substance misuse and abuse.
  • Monitor behavior and progress of students in the prevention/intervention program.
  • Maintain confidential reports and records on referrals and cases.
