About The Position

Full time Outpatient Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) Opportunity! $12,000 Sign On Bonus! Prairie St. John’s is seeking an outpatient licensed addiction counselor to work with adults in our PHP and IOP levels of care (partial hospitalization program and intensive outpatient). This position is Monday through Friday during regular business hours at out St. Genevieve’s Place building on our campus. Prairie St. John's has been providing services for children, adolescents, and adults to address behavioral health and substance use challenges since 1997. Prairie offers inpatient hospitalization, day treatment, and intensive outpatient services. Accredited by The Joint Commission, we are the largest, freestanding behavioral health facility in the region. More than 4,000 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Prairie St. John's. The Addiction Counselor will facilitate groups in our outpatient programs. The Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) evaluates patients for chemical dependency history and uses this information to document signs; symptoms; physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual implications; and treatment recommendations. The LAC may be asked to speak with other providers and insurance companies to share their observations and recommendations; as well as re-evaluate patients to determine progress at each level of care. The LAC develops a plan of treatment; shares the recommendations with members of a multi-disciplinary team for feedback; implements feedback and then implements the treatment plan within the established time frame. The LAC monitors the patient’s adherence to the plan and determines if short term goals are being met. The LAC provides group therapy and CD education based on accomplishment of objectives identified in treatment plan. This may include individual and family therapy if ordered. The LAC is responsible for coordinating care with referral sources and other providers, as well as treatment and discharge planning. Thorough documentation of assessments, evaluations, therapy notes, contacts made must be made accurately and timely. The LAC has a professional duty to warn in cases of child and vulnerable adult protection. Requirements

  • Licensed by the state of North Dakota as an Addiction Counselor
  • At least two years of experience working as an Addiction Counselor in North Dakota
  • Communicate thoroughly and accurately in a professional manner both verbally and in writing
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills are expected
  • Successful employees demonstrate a pleasant upbeat demeanor and a positive attitude
