About The Position

The Licensed Social Worker / Professional Counselor provides mental health care and support for the inmate/patient population in a correctional facility. This role involves assessing, planning, and delivering individualized treatment services while collaborating with the multidisciplinary treatment team to ensure safe, effective, and rehabilitative mental health care.

Requirements

Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field.
Current and valid licensure as an LAC, LSW, LPC, or LCSW in the state where services are provided.
Strong clinical assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention skills.
Knowledge of correctional mental health practices and trauma-informed care.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to documentation accuracy.
Dedication to ethical practice, patient confidentiality, and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive mental health intakes, assessments, and crisis interventions.
Provide individual and group counseling tailored to inmate/patient needs.
Analyze psychosocial and behavioral factors to guide treatment planning and interventions.
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the treatment team.
Maintain accurate and timely progress notes, treatment documentation, and discharge summaries.
Serve as an active member of the multidisciplinary treatment team to coordinate and optimize patient care.
Provide observational feedback and professional insights within the team setting.
Refer inmates/patients to appropriate external services upon release to ensure continuity of care.
Facilitate therapeutic group sessions addressing identified treatment needs.
Maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for all inmates/patients.
Ensure compliance with facility policies, ethical standards, and applicable state and federal regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the behavioral health program.
